They are things people actually said in court, word for word, taken down and now published by court reporters who endured the torment of staying calm while these exchanges were actually taking place.

Q: Are you sexually active? A: No, I just lie there.

Q: What is your date of birth? A: July 15th. Q: What year? A: Every year.

Q: What gear were you in at the moment of the impact? A: Gucci sweats and Reeboks.

Q: This myasthenia gravis, does it affect your memory at all? A: Yes. Q: And in what ways does it affect your memory? A: I forget. Q: You forget? Can you give us an example of something that you've forgotten?

Q: How old is your son, the one living with you? A: Thirty-eight or thirty-five, I can't remember which. Q: How long has he lived with you? A: Forty-five years.

Q: What was the first thing your husband said to you when he woke up that morning? A: He said, "Where am I, Cathy?" Q: And why did that upset you? A: My name is Susan.

Q: Do you know if your daughter has ever been involved in voodoo or the occult? A: We both do. Q: Voodoo? A: We do. Q: You do? A: Yes, voodoo.

Q: Now doctor, isn't it true that when a person dies in his sleep, he doesn't know about it until the next morning? A: Did you actually pass the bar exam?

Q: The youngest son, the twenty-year-old, how old is he?

Q: Were you present when your picture was taken?

Q: So the date of conception (of the baby) was August 8th? A: Yes. Q: And what were you doing at that time?

Q: She had three children, right? A: Yes. Q: How many were boys? A: None. Q: Were there any girls?

Q: How was your first marriage terminated? A: By death. Q: And by whose death was it terminated?

Q: Can you describe the individual? A: He was about medium height and had a beard. Q: Was this a male, or a female?

Q: Is your appearance here this morning pursuant to a deposition notice which I sent to your attorney? A: No, this is how I dress when I go to work.

Q: Doctor, how many autopsies have you performed on dead people? A: All my autopsies are performed on dead people.

Q: ALL your responses MUST be oral, OK? What school did you go to? A: Oral.

Q: Do you recall the time that you examined the body? A: The autopsy started around 8:30 p.m. Q: And Mr. Dennington was dead at the time? A: No, he was sitting on the table wondering why I was doing an autopsy.

Q: Are you qualified to give a urine sample?

Q: Doctor, before you performed the autopsy, did you check for a pulse? A: No. Q: Did you check for blood pressure? A: No. Q: Did you check for breathing? A: No. Q: So, then it is possible that the patient was alive when you began the autopsy? A: No. Q: How can you be so sure, Doctor? A: Because his brain was sitting on my desk in a jar. Q: But could the patient have still been alive, nevertheless? A: Yes, it is possible that he could have been alive and practicing law somewhere.

Interesting stories.

Geese Facts

Next fall when you see geese heading south for the winter... flying along in V formation...you might consider what science has discovered as to why they fly that way:

As each bird flaps its wings, it creates an uplift for the bird immediately following. By flying in V formation the whole flock adds at least 71% greater flying range, than if each bird flew on its own.

People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going more quickly and easily because they are traveling on the thrust of one another.

When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of trying to go it alone... and quickly gets back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird in front. If we have as much sense as a goose, we will stay in formation with those who are headed the same way we are.

When the head goose gets tired it rotates back in the wing and another goose flies point. It is sensible to take turns doing demanding jobs...with people or with geese flying south.

Geese honk from behind to encourage those up front to keep up their speed. What do we say when we honk from behind?

Finally...and this is important...when a goose gets sick or is wounded by gunshots, and falls out of formation, two other geese fall out with that goose and follow it down to lend help and protection. They stay with the fallen goose until it is able to fly or until it dies, and only then do they launch out on their own, or with another formation to catch up with their group.

If we have the sense of a goose, we will stand by each other like that.

Great Moments in Physics

The following concerns a question in a physics degree exam at the University of Copenhagen.

"Describe how to determine the height of a skyscraper with a barometer."

One student replied:

"You tie a long piece of string to the neck of the barometer, then lower the barometer from the roof of the skyscraper to the ground. The length of the string plus the length of the barometer will equal the height of the building."

This highly original answer so incensed the examiner that the student was failed. The student appealed on the grounds that his answer was indisputably correct, and the university appointed an independent arbiter to decide the case. The arbiter judged that the answer was indeed correct, but did the problem it was decided to call the student in and allow him six minutes in which to provide a verbal answer which showed at least a minimal familiarity with the basic principles of physics.

For five minutes the student sat in silence, forehead creased in thought. The arbiter reminded him that time was running out, to which the student replied that he had several extremely relevant answers, but couldn't make up his mind which to use.

On being advised to hurry up the student replied as follows:

"Firstly, you could take the barometer up to the roof of the skyscraper, drop it over the edge, and measure the time it takes to reach the ground. The height of the building can then be worked out from the formula H = 0.5g x t squared. But bad luck on the barometer."

"Or if the sun is shining you could measure the height of the barometer, then set it on end and measure the length of its shadow. Then you measure the length of the skyscraper's shadow, and thereafter it is a simple matter of proportional arithmetic to work out the height of the skyscraper."

"But if you wanted to be highly scientific about it, you could tie a short piece of string to the barometer and swing it like a pendulum, first at ground level and then on the roof of the skyscraper. The height is worked out by the difference in the gravitational restoring force T = 2 pi sqroot (l / g)."

"Or if the skyscraper has an outside emergency staircase, it would be easier to walk up it and mark off the height of the skyscraper in barometer lengths, then add them up."

"If you merely wanted to be boring and orthodox about it, of course, you could use the barometer to measure the air pressure on the roof of the skyscraper and on the ground, and convert the difference in millibars into feet to give the height of the building."

"But since we are constantly being exhorted to exercise independence of mind and apply scientific methods, undoubtedly the best way would be to knock on the janitor's door and say to him 'If you would like a nice new barometer, I will give you this one if you tell me the height of this skyscraper'."

The student was Niels Bohr, the only person from Denmark to win the Nobel prize for Physics.

{wahahah} {read at your own discrection ppl below 16 pls dont read(dont say i didnt warn you)}
Ex Boyfriend

Two high school sweethearts who went out together for four years in high school were both virgins; they enjoyed losing their virginity to each other in 10th grade. When they graduated, they wanted both to go to the same college but, the girl was accepted to a college on the East Coast, and the guy went to a college on the West Coast. They agreed to be faithful to each other and to spend anytime they could together. As time went on, the guy would call the girl and she would never be home.

When he wrote she would take weeks to return the letters. Even when he emailed her, she took days to return his messages. Finally, she confessed to him that she wanted to date around. He didn't take this very well and increased his calls, letters, and emails trying to win back her love. She soon became very annoyed with his persistence and now with a new boyfriend, she wanted to get him off her back. So, what she did is this: She took a Polaroid picture of her sucking her new boyfriend's unmentionables and sent it to her old boyfriend with a note reading, "I found a new boyfriend, leave me alone."

Well, needless to say, this guy was heartbroken but, even more so, he was pissed. So, what he did next was awesome. He wrote on the back of the photo the following: "Dear Mom and Dad, Having a great time at college, please send more money! I'm getting pretty desperate!" and mailed the picture to her parents

(Paybacks a Bitch ain't it!!?!!)

Hope you enjoyed those tales as much as i did.

Check out this site..

Um i was walking home with Le Jun when i came up with this stupid idea i told him about it and he just nodded.. now its done... sry ppl i know it sux.. i need to centralise the thing properly. Today was the 2nd paper for the A-maths test and the test was pretty ok till i got to question 5. It was a trigo question rather easy i thought after all in secondary school we are only expected to know two identities. OK so here is what was written on the piece of paper. (1/cosec x) + (1/(cosec x +1))= 2tan x sec x. ok so i did what i thought was a easy question.

I thought it would be rather tricky based on the 3 mark weighting it had how ever i was in for a surprize. After trying the question for 30min and still not getting the answer i tried to substitue values for x to test if the question was correct. Then i thought that my calculator must have had some virus for it showed the question was wrong.

Ok so i finally skipped the question after spending a full 30min on it. (the test is only 2 hours so i effectively wasted 30 min on a three mark question). Ok so i was damn annoyed with myself for not being able to solve a rather easy question in one of my favourite topics. Next, the question was a combination and permutation once again i was stuck(this time it was my fault). I misinterpreted the question and thought it was more difficult than it really was.

Ok, after seeing that i didnt know how to solve it, i skipped it and went on to the next question. Then, i carried on doing the paper.

So here I was wasted 30min on an unsolvable question and then had no idea that the stupid question was wrong. Ok, maybe a typo or somthing i thought and the proceeded to solve the obvious question (1/(cosec x -1))+(1/cosec x +1) = 2tan x sec x. Thats when i guess Mr Chye shoudnt have spoken, he said this :"I wrote it into the computer, the printer printed it wrongly" ARGH now i have a stupid machiene to blame for not having enough time all for just one stupid 3 mark question which wasnt even correct. ARGH BYE BYE FULL MARKS FOR A-MATHS.. SAD. Feel damn good. anyway so after school we(son, weihong and i) spent a few hours wating time and listening to some mr brown podfiles. after that we got onto a bus to get to nj. we were the last three to arrive there as we expected the frequency and speed of the bus ro be faster.

Ok so we went into the lecture theater and sat down and the presentation started. They started off by introducing the school and how happy they were that "we" were the special ones that were allowed to go for dsa into.

Then it proceeded into how many of the leaders in singapore were from that particular jc. Mr Lee Hsian Long, Mr Lee Hsian Yang, Mr Vivian Balakrishnan just to name a few. Then they started talking about how it was the first JC in Singapore and that they didnt want it to be the first but it was just that no other person was as daring to start a JC.

Soon, we were told about our subject combination possibilities(similar for all JCS). In all JC's a student can choose H1,H2 or H3 subjects. Even though most people dont know this, there is actually a restriction on the number of subjects that one can take. OK, this is what i managed to remember (TET:"his literal brain failed to grasp anthing when there were no figures"). All have to take 3 H2 subjects and that will determine the if its a Science or Arts combination. All H1 subjects are 1 pt. All H2 are 2 and all H3 1. we have a cap on the maximum number of points we can have and that cap is 11 w/o MT. that means those with MT have an extra subject(which is MT). OK and then they said something like.. The DSA people will have to do EXTREMELY well in prelims if they want the cap of 11. or else te best they can get is 10. Now say that ones combination is (this is the most common 1) PMCE physcis, mathematics, chemistry and econs. So that contributes to 8 pts. next we have GP and PW(project work) both compulsary and so we have used up 10 "units" so most will have one unit left and that can be used for the H3 subject in J2. The catch is that DSA students who fail to do well in prelims practially have cut their throat in the sence that no matter how welll they do in Os will most probably make no difference and thus it would be very difficult to get a H3 subject. I dont know if this is allowed, but i think it should be, anyway here goes, Take ECONS at H1 level, and then try for 2 H3 subjects. That way you will have greater chance of doing well.

I summarised the long talk(only what ever i got from it) and i wonder what else he had said that i dont remember. anyway going on there was a short talk by the IT head and i cant remember what he said but i do rmb that his presentation was quite short.

Ok so next we has some light snacks, weihong and i felt it was stupid to carry a plate while eating so we forced son to go and get us food wahaha. Son was complaining all along about the quantity of the food being insufficient for him alone but none the less, there was still food left over.

So after the light refreshments, we proceeded to a tour around the school. The main focus of the school is their science research labs. S$700,000, was the amount the VP kept repeating. Later before moving on to another room he made a comment that stunned most people. "If you know of any suppliers who sell these things at a lower price look for me later". WOW, i dont wish to state my interpretation of it, but...
Then, he proceeded to show us a room with hexagonal tables and things and made us guess what the room was for.. none knew and noone dared guessing. OK so we waited for an answer.. the answer,... d.r.u.m.r.o.l.l ... for primary school kids!! ok so then came the giving back so soceity thinggy and yadayada.. ok. then came a exibition of memory, he asked if anyone did not receive his email and some one raised his hand. The VP asked for his name and the latter replied his christian name. The immidiate response threw the whole lot of us into dispair we were stunned bewond words and i bet at least 10 mouths fell wide open. The VP recalled the full name of the person and then even commented that he(the poor fellow who had become a VPs pet in our eyes) should have received the email because the distinctly remembered sending the email to the pupil.
one personal comment, i expected a IMCB kind of Lab but was rather disappointed once i walked into the lab. IMCB is still uncomparable.

Ok next we had a birds eye view of the school field and a small lecture about how one could do anything one wanted in a JC like NJ(after a few girls shouted "we love you(pointing at another girl running towards them)")

Next we went to a butter fly garden. YAY BUTTERFLY GARDEN i thought. I probably shouldnt think it kills too many braincells of mine. Thats why i have very few left. Ok so we went to a butterfly garden that had no butterflies(aww.. disappointing) ok ant thats when we were told about the work going into creating a butterfly garden.

Then we went to the archives of NJ. Um didnt really have a chance to read but there were plenty of photos of people i knew from the TV screen. so that was that. the tour had to come to an end. Anyway i must say the Archives at anderson is much nicer than the one at NJ, i just dont know why i feel that way but i just know it.

Ok next was the cert presentation. We sat down, waited for our names to be called and then proceeded to go and collect our certs.. all the time during the process, the VP tried to get as many people as possible to sign up on the spot. (whats the hurry dude.. chill we still have time).

After the presentation, it was 1905 and we made our way out. On my way home, i took the same bus as Jing Jie (hope i spelt it right) and asked him a bit about NJ and he was greatfully telling me all about JC life. Well it sounds fun but now lets think about Prelims. Talking aboout prelims, the prep prelim geog is tomorrow and i havent prepared adequetely.. argh i dun want to fail not again.

People actually hate maths!! check this out..

Hi was browsing and I think I influenced this person to hate maths by trying to show her the true beauty. I think her teacher spoilt it for her by giving low marks.. marks do not reflect a subject. I have never done well for exams in mathematics.. but none the less i knew that maths was and is a beautiful subject. Dont ever hate mathematics. Pythagoruses quest for knowledge led us to know many facts and now we are disregarding them? why did our ancestors work so hard then. Its not that everything is known that we can forget about it.

That particular blogskin is one i have see a lot of i wonder what about it makes people want it. the surprising think is that most people dont even know what those simbols mean why then use that as a skin.. i wonder maybe we will never know what drives people to hate maths.. maybe one day they will realise its beauty.. one day..

NJC DSA

Yesterday i received a call and the person on the other side confirmed my name twice. I went thinking that the paper will be very difficult and that if i managed to solve one, i will ensure a placing in the National team. I thought that if i whack one i would have booked my place in the national team as is usually the case. However this year, most of the people managed to solve one of the quesions.

I did one full correct and one more but am unsure if its correct. Anyway judging by the number of questions that others did it is close to impossible to get into the national team. Argh... y? y must this happen? arhh..

Can we have more difficult questions that have not been seen? its unfair if people have seen the quesion before.. anyway lets hope that i get in the nat team..

continuation of boy story(not toy story)

Haha felt like laffing out loud when i saw this.. um i shall not state the event but rather continue the exciting story. i saw that the organiser of the event had "accidentaly" dropped the matches into a puddle of water(boy do i feel sorry for you) but refused to let the boy change the matches. Hello Homework!

Argh Mr Tan(for those who do not know, he is my maths teacher who retired today) i am going to miss certain words of yours for better or worse i dont really know but none the less i will miss them.

"dont be a monkey!",

"You shd know what you are doing and not be like a computer program asked to memorize algorythms",

"you MUST write your working in this manner or else no one will understand",

"being good doesnt mean you will be the top scorer",

"even the construction workers work very hard do they earn a lot?",

"not all teachers are clever enough to understant that you know what you are doing show them that you are clever by writing all the steps down"(um really?),

"not all teachers know the double angle formula its not in syllabus dont use it",

"no one knows if 1+1=2 its a definition and that is why we are doing maths now",

"dont write faster than you think you wont know what you are writing."

"what kind of math is this?" "are u using your brain?"

"only if you get 80+ for all the tests can you not do your homework."

Um i may not have said this before but despite never doing well for his tests or not really paying much attention during his lessons i hav learnt a tremondious amount from him and i have also been inspired to be a great teacher like him but i guess he would ask me to forget about being a great teacher like him but to aim at the ideal and then surpass his ability.

I remember i was stuck at a question and he too was stuck at it, he said he would think of a method to solve the question and he gave me an idea which i used to solve the question. I must state the method was not a good method to do the question which actually has a rather simple method but his working inspired me to continue to try to attempt the question and eventually after inducing for a very long time i got a complicated agebraic expression. i was elated to see that the method actually worked.

In another seperate incident, he asked to borrow my notes to make sense of the topic of functional equations so that he could explain to me the topic. Then he took the pain to read through the badly written notes and then proceded to give me advise on how to understand(i could tell that he was actually unable to really comprehend the notes however he had tried his best to).

Mr Tan I will miss you for not only are you the best maths teacher who i have seen and had as one, i have also seen you as the pillar of support that has encouraged the whole class to do extremely well. It is no surprize then that the two top scoring classes both are taught by you.

Mr Tan, i also have to appolgise for bringing down the average of the class several times because i didnt peform well enough. However i know that you have always believed in me despite "punishing" me several times for acts that i feel are not punishabe. I still remember the first teat i took i scored a very low mark because my 6 looked like a zero. or when my 4 looked like a 9.

I shall end this long report by really thanking you for all that you have done for me and also by respecting your efforts to turn us all into great mathematicians by really showing you that i can be what you want us to be.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://mathematics4life.blogspot.com/2006/06/good-bye-mr-tan-hello-homework.html' title='Good bye Mr Tan. Reader discretion is advised.

I shall not quote the exact story but rather an analogy. For those who know what this is about, these are just my comments with no personal attacks. For the rest who don’t know what it is about, just enjoy the story.

A boy wanted to enter a matchstick lighting competition and had spent days and nights studying about the best method to strike a match and he also studied about the different materials that were used to create the matches. All this was done in an attempt to ensure victory. To top it all, it must also be stated that the previous year's winner was his best friend who had a average of 95 lights per 100 attempts. Despite this, the boy refused to go to his best friend for advice.

The boy knew all that he needed to know, he bought a set of different brands of matches and practiced day and night till he was able to strike a match behind his back held between his ring and little finger.

He slept early on the day before the competition but despite that, he was unable to wake up on time for the competition. Upon getting up, he rushed to his cupboard (where he kept his matchboxes) and RANDOMLY picked a few boxes and stuffed them into his pocket. He rushed to the venue and had just made it in the nick of time.

At the venue, he was asked to place 5 of the boxes he was going to use on the judges table he once again RANDOMLY took 5 and discarded the rest into a nearby bin. The sad thing was that he had placed into one of those 5 boxes all the matches that he was unable to light previously.

He now had entered a competition with 5 randomly chosen boxes. Is he still going to win despite the odds against him? It will be one full year before I know for sure...

Here is what a friend of mine told me, "It's not about the matches but about whether he remembers all that he has learnt," when I told him that there was no way he could win.

SMO senior test (2nd round)

Ahhhh... i suck at geometry..
Of the five questions, two were geom and both of which i was unable to solve... argh.. somone pro at geom pls teach me geom..

ok i hav decided to post the questions and maybe at a later date i will post the answers.. my answer for q4 will be a bit messy so someone else please help me refine it..

here are the questions (the phrasing is really bad!!)

1)a and d are numbers such that a, a+d, a+2d are all prime numbers
larger than 3 show that d is a multiple of 6.

2)ABCD is a cyclic quadrilateral, let the bisectors of A and B meet
at E. I think i did pretty ok.. um.. but got a i might not get in.. dunno y.

Ok lets see they asked a lot of questions and i guess i answered them pretty well but some i think i might have screwed up.

So first i went into the room and was asked to be seated and then they went about asking the questions. First was the toughest and the most expected and also the one that i had least prepared for. "Why do you want to DSA into NJC?"
me:"I have heard that the maths soceity here in NJC is very good and my seniors encouraged me to apply for DSA into NJC so that i can benefit from the training here."
him:"Ah.. So you applied because of the maths soceity here?"
me:"yes, actually a few of my seniors adviced me about it so i applied."

So now after that was done the posed the next question that totally made me panick.. luckily i had something to tell them(what i used to tell all my friends who dislike mathematics).
him:"Why do you lik mathematics"
me:"hmmm.. well actually its because i believe that mathematics is eternal truth!"
him:"really?"
me:"yeah. actually not only that i also heard that at a higher level every one ends up studying mathematics even those who take English."
him:(most probably sarcastically)"um.. English?? can you explain how.."
me:"Well i am not too sure how but what i heard is that they assign numerical values to nouns and verbs etc. and then look for patterns that might occur when proper and improper sentences are phrased."
him:"ah. ok."

Then they asked me if i had taken the mathematical olympiads this year.
me:"yes"
him:"senior or open?"
me:"both."
him:"And did you qualify for the second round?"
me:"yes for both i did."
him:"ahh ok."

Then they asked me about any setbacks i had had. I shall not elaborate here but those of you who are very close to me probably know what it is.

Next, they asked me to show them my report book and then questioned why my languages and humanities were weak and my sciences strong(um they are not THAT good who would call a A1,A2,B3 good??)
i gave some stupid reason which i cant exactly recall but luckily that was it..

i left out a large part of the interview here because i cant exactly recall.. i also forgot the order in which the other questions were asked.

After that, i went to wait for the others to come(Wei Hong and Son) so that i could tell them about the questions that were asked to mentally prepare them. Later i went to meet Abel and that was it.

New Blog??

Hmm..
I have a new flash blog.. you can visit it here
See you there!! SMO nightmare

SMO(singapore mathematical olympiad) does seem like a nightmare to most people because most just dont know the methods or suffer a serious mindblock during the test.

I hate it because i fall into neither catagory.. i was doing the paper and i felt pretty confident that my answers were correct because i had resorted to primative counting methods most of the time rather than what i had learnt.

let me just state 1 example of where i screwed up. everyone knows that for all real numbers, x squared is greater than 0 and thus -3/x^2 is less than zero. but i forgot this basic fact. cry...

I solved 22/35 questions last year in the Senior section and that was really around how many i could solve but however this year i could have solved 28 with ease yet i screwed up 10 of them most because of carelessness.. so i ended up with only 18. i thought cos 300 was -ve.. argh..

In the Open i did better than last year(7/25) i got 10/25 right but i could have done much better infact i couldnt solve the simple equation 1298^2+1829^2=5a^2.

and i also did not manage to do simple things i had learnt before. Anyway i have something to be happy about.. i was still the best amongst the people i checked with in the Open catagory in our school.

Although i believe the paper became easier this year they became more technical and require more thinking.. they also involve a lot of arithimatics and that is what i never really practiced.. I should have listened to my father scolding me to memorise my timetables.

argh.. i am sad.. i wish everyone in singapore is having a bad day like me.. argh.. hate this feeling.. no wait i cant let others suffer.. i change my wish.. i wish noone should be having a bad day like me.. i know Son is sad, Daniel is sad, Anson is sad, I am sad... and probably Wei Hao too because he didnot manage to get us to perform to our real potential.

i have started to writeup the questions and will be posting them here once i am done.. i am however unsure that if i do then will i be breaking any copyright laws??

<<<SAD DIOPHANTINE>>>

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://mathematics4life.blogspot.com/2006/06/argh-smo-nightmare.html' title='Argh.. Now i have another item in the collection and i am trying desperately to sell it off. but the person whom it is meant for needs time to ponder over the quality of the treasure. i assured the person that it was of a good quality but still got a indefinate reply. further more that person now refuses to communicate with me as we used to previously. well i guess the treasure really traumatised the person or the person is really considering to purchase the thing or the person is afraid that if the person communicates with me normally like before that same treasure might be brought up and that person doesnt want to be influenced by me to buy it.

ps. i did not find a jewelery box. i found something that i had been looking for.(not a handphone though i am looking for 1) and i am trying to figure out how to accept the fact that it may be valueless and i might just have to throw it away. for people who have been in a similar situation you will probably know what i am talking about. if you can offer me any advice please do.

1 more thing before i end off.. the comments section has been desperately left there so that people will reply to the posts there. and also if you want to visit i probably should also add that you should post! maybe if anyone has some code to force people who visit my blog to tag i would love to know it. does such a thing exist?? i guess you can force ppl to not leave a page but they can close the window so if such a thing exists i would love to have it. i hate to imagine that i might be the only person reading my blog.

lastly to the person who the treasure is for, please i know its not a real treasure or even close but it means a lot to me. do buy it from me. or rather from me for me.

Signs of boredom...

here are signs that i was bored and depressed. i wrote poems(me and poems!! i must have been really depressed)

I keep thinking of you
You came as the light
Yet left as the dark
if only you might
Give me the chance to fight
can I make my mark

You showed me the right
Yet was I always wrong?
if only you might
Once again tell me how to fight
Can I undo the song

You made my day
Yet when I tried
You cast me away
if only it may
Can I find out you but lied

Did you fail to see beneath
this very skin that coverth
You and me?
For we are all but equal
Arnt we?

I keep thinking of you
Dispite knowing
however you
would
but cast me away.

MY ANGEL(Lord I need you)
The first time I saw, I knew
I could predict that many new
things would come true..
under the sky, always blue
As time passed all the interest grew.

Why must He be so evil
When we are all but so civil
the excitement that kept on growing
Stopped by a simple sowing
Why must she be so evil

Will time be the solution or
all that I hope for
Be lost once and for all
Why make it look like my only call
can’t obtain what I wish for

Why God must you be so evil
to put Us through the trouble
sleepless nights I spend and the
shock that came to her
Now, music I must wait for..
Weeks to come will not be easy untill I
Know the truth. Brunei is a very fun place to stay in. Hereforth shall me my memories of that land!
ok first School, school in Brunei rocks! we have no exams and lesson are based on your own pace. That means that we dont have to do what the rest of the class is doing we can do thing what we want at our own pace. lol although i always tried to be faster than the rest. we had little or no homework and were freely allowed to enjoy the life that was presented to us(pun intended). Oh yah and e best part! WE WERE ALLOWED TO WEAR WHATEVER WE WANTED! yupps u read it correctly. nope people did not come in bikinis but they could if they wanted.
ok now the next most memorable thing. the beaches. Brunei is full or oily waters. and they are unsafe for swimming in. when my bro and i would go to the beach daily to go to the club where we could go for our swimming training. so we would cycle past the beaches and always we would see a great number of jellyfish lined up on the shore. these were there as they could not take the oil content of the oily water and once they were dead, they were washed ashore.
Hmm ya for people who know that i am the daring kind. ok maybe not. when going to school i would go on a bike and my brother learnt from his friends that the bike could still be ridden if we did not use our hands so he and i would cycle all the way to school using no hands. thanks to my daringness i now have a lot of scars on my legs.. but most cant be seen thanks God for the colouration.
ok now the most memorable thing. Its this place called Jerudong park! a totally free amusement park (now its no longer free) yup a totally free amusement park! It was twice as big as Sentosa. if you really want to campare. Ha a huge amusement park totally FOC. my dad would drive us there on holidays and we would spend the whole time there!! yup about twenty hours on the rides and once the signs of dayness were over we would return home.
thats all i have to say about Brunei for now for those who still want to know more pls tag or ask me on msn. BRUNEI ROX

Wad da hell

Blogspot.com! can i curse at you?? **** ****... hmm ok i spent lik 45 min typing my last entry about brunei and how life is there and i posted it. the post got deleted and now my time spent writing the post has gone.. sad. ok here is sth for those who still wanna know about Brunei. i shall be writing a similar entry as compared to the one that was "lost" soon and be putting it up shortly. till then wait guys.

Ha.. Ok now let me talk about my maths olympiad training session. This week was so cool! i met Wei Hao, an ex-andersonion who was a maths genious. He even represented singapore in the International mathematics Olympiad(IMO). So now we first met on thursday, and he immidiately wanted to assess our standard. so he made me, and Son, do the last year Open paper and submit to him the full solution the next day. WOW. 25 killer questions in 1 day! with proper written out solutions. To get a rough idea on the level of difficulties of these questions, i can safely say that 85% of JC students cant solve more than 3 of the questions. (My bro(JC1) took the paper and got 1 correct while i(sec 3) got only 7. Son got 8). So by the next day, i solved 21 questions and submited them to him. Now i need to wait for the results. haha hope i get them correct. so back to friday. we went for training which was supposed to be from 1400-1530 but in the end Dr Chua(maths olympiad trainer) started telling us how to change our attitude and concentrate solely on doing well for the Open paper and that that would also improve my senior paper. The lesson finished at 1700 hours

What a day!

Today(27/4/06) was so funny! Ok maybe it wasn`t yet I think a lot of 'interesting' things took place today. First, (pls don`t laugh!) Jeremy the one who is always top (or second) for physics forgot that a vacuum can cause two things to stick together. No it is not a question about vacuum, he finished his exam paper quickly and forgot to check! He had left two pages undone. Wow! 16 marks or 32% down the drain. I shall learn from your mistakes Jeremy.
Hmm now the more interesting events. Son(Ha Quang Son) visited the gents twice during his Physics test! Once for 10 min! Well he is surely talented! He finished the paper!
Just before his history test, Philip made a fool of himself. He was seated at a perfectly acceptable location but NO, he had to stand and make a big mess of the situation and look like a total fool! Later he took a short sprint to 'his table'.
Now this is the weirdest one. Am i that difficult to recognize! Especially if I am expected in a certain place? Pls there arnt that many indian guys in S'pore.. Ok so here's what happened. I saw a junior 'hiding' between two book shelves and all I did was say "hi". All I got was a blank stare so I rolled my eyes and the stare became more blank! Well just to confirm I am sure it was my junior. Now if you(my junior) do read this, Remember! You owe me an explanation! I expcted you to hi! Umm maybe I suck at at saying hi.
Hmm i should end of with a little treat to maths lovers!
Did you know that x^n+y^n=z^n has no integer solutions if n>2! , n is a natural number! Now for the more daring prove it! I will greatfully offer S$1000 to the person who does it(no complex variables please).

Maybe i should just stick to maths.

Woah.. after listening to a lot of nonsence after my previous post i guess maths is the most logical thing to talk about! Well today i shall talk about something abstract.
Now who here knows what a complex number.. or maybe an imginary number..
"wad is an imaginary number??" "how can a number be imaginary?" i bet those are the questions running in your mind.
well here is how my prof explained it to me.
accept that since square root of -1 cannot exist in the real world(real numbers). Then it must exist somewhere. now lets call the magical value i(only the positive part).
So now imagine a graph where the x axis is the real numbers and the y axis is the imaginary axis. ie the numbers in the imaginary axis go ...3i,2i,i,0,-i,-2i,-3i... and the x axis is the normal real axis ie ...-3,-2,-1,0,1,2,3...
now the to find the square root of ab we can find the root of a then root of b and multiply.
so now lets say we want to know the square root of -4 it is the same as the square root of 4=2 times the square root of -1=i
so we get the magical result sqrt of -4= 2i
now think about the coordinate (1,2) it represents a special number namely the number 1+2i or generalising i can say that (a,b) reprisents a+bi
ok so thats that.
now look at the a+bi note that taking the distance from the origin to the point will give us sqrt (a^2+b^2). thus let the angle formed between the line and the positive x axis be p rad.
thus we can write a+bi as sqrt(a^2+b^2)*(cos p +isin p) since cos p=a/sqrt(a^2+b^2), sin p=b/sqrt(a^2+b^2)
now here is the best part.
we have a short form for writing the expression sqrt(a^2+b^2)*(cos p +isin p) we simply write sqrt(a^2+b^2)*e^(ip).
for a proof of this look at the maclaurens series it converges beautifully

now for the most magical part of this whole lesson!!
look at the number e^(i*pi) now notice that if pi is the angle formed, then we are back on the real axis so we have the magical number e^(i*pi)=-1.
Wow!
I just combined three of the most beautiful numbers ever discovered to make it more magical, we can say that e^(i*pi)+1=0 now every part of that is magical. all the five numbers are special.
pls message or ask me if you need any clarifications.

What is friendship..

Here is my pick on life.. This might help you better understand me.
I imagine friends as life savers.Yup i do(not e sjab kind though). i imagine myself as a person falling off a building, do this together wif me as you read on you might just be enlightened. Now imagine all the people you know are going to walk past one by one. Who will offer a hand to you who will be willing to save you?
Now here is the more interesting part.. Imagine that you are walking past who will you save? and why? tag if you need any further clarifications on my thinking..lol.
and do tag to say what will happen if u are walking past and i am hanging! will i live??

What the hell is eisenstein crteria?

I learnt this recently and for those who might really be wondering what eisenstein(not einstein) criteria is here is the mathematical form.
p.s. for those who find school maths difficult dont bother trying to understand.
(ie. Anson dont read on)

let f(x)=ax^n+bx^(n-1)+cx^(n-2)+...+yx+z. where a,b,c,...,y,z are constants.
let there be a prime p which doesnt divide 'a' but divides the other constants.
then if z is not divisible by p^2, the whole expression cannot be factorised.

most of you probably wont understand how this might be useful in maths but just to give an example, determine if there exist any intergral solutions for the expression
x^4+3x^2+6^x+6=0
now notice that the coefficients are 1,0,3,6,6
that thus the 'a' is not divisible by the prime 3 but the rest are.
thus in one look, one can say that the whole polynomial is not factorisable since
6 is not divisible by 9.
isnt that easy??
for those of you who read on without heeding my advise its ok you really dont need to know this for any tests!

Motivated!

I feel so motivated! For the past few days i have been listening to a lot of motinational speeches. Its so fun you get to listen to stories and at the same time learn invalluable lessons.
The first story has the lesson, you can be the richest person if you follow the golden rue. What is that golden rule you may ask. Its actually a simple phrase apply it well and money will not be a problem for you. well put into simpler terms, the golden rule goes sth like this.. A part of all you earn is yours to keep. It may be any amount but make sure it is atleast ten percent of your earnings or pocketmoney. And make sure you NEVER spend it
The next story is about you having two innerpersonalities. One that is positive and one that is negitive. Day in and day out we chose to embrace one of the personalities and unfortunately it controls us for the time not our brain.
So what are these two personalities?
The first is ur positive identity and and the other ur negitive identity.
If you chose to embarce the negitive you are actually building up a path to failure. And another importane lesson is that failure only exists in the grave. You dont fail till you die so why not embrace that positive identity and well move towards the opposite direction. Then make sure that identity takes the BEST path upwards.
The last motivational "story" was told by my maths teacher, Mr Tan Teck Poh. Here goes.
You are on a boat and are carrying your lifes worth on it, a super big gold bar. When the boat sinks do you hold on to that gold bar?
You can chose to hold on to your bar and lose your life. Or save yourself and lose that bar and then re-live your life.
Thats all for my motivatonal stories do ask me if you wanna know more i shall be pleased to clarify certain points.

Hmm..

It isnt easy doing this.. Y do so many ppl out there hav blogs? how da hell do they manage to gt such nice blogs? i wish i had the patience to use all of my javascripting skills instead of jus stealing others blog skins.

Now to sth more real. well i didnt really do much today. slept through geog. half heartedly listened to the maths lesson and then the stupidest thing happened!

Mrs Lim my form teacher said that my class hadn't purchased enough buscits so to salvage the situation and also to quieten us down. She made up keep quiet without talking. If anyone spoke, they would hav to buy one tin($8). To add insult to injury, she tried to force us(trick us) into talking. actually it has been a very long time since i kept quiet for so long lol so i guess thats y i think its so stupid.

First entry

My first blog..
